“Come play with Norman as he romps through the seasons in Minnesota. His ABC adventures will take you through the year, and include all the fun things about living by the lake! Join him as he visits crappies and walleyes in the pencil reeds, dresses up for the 4th of July boat parade, and skijors on lake ice. He is one lucky dog!”
“Don’t put the holiday lights back in the box! Watch what happens when they take off on an adventure that leads them through the calendar year."
Children's Literature Honorable Mention:
Norman Loves the Lake, by Debbie Hoven, published by Beaver's Pond Press.
Using the alphabet and the northern seasons as a guide, Norm, a black lab, experiences the best part of living on a lake in Minnesota. Young children will enjoy the rhyming as they discover what Norm is up to next. The colorful drawings have such a cozy feeling, they might even make the readers want to live on a lake, too!

Debbie Hoven does a wonderful job as a Minnesota visiting author. Her presentation is neat and organized with a colorful power point presentation. With Debbie illustrating her own books she is able to talk about and explain the process of developing her drawings. Her ability to relate and communicate with little children comes easy and naturally with her background as an elementary teacher. Debbie also did a great job working with our older students in a small group questions and answer session.
